Changing Leaves & Pumpkins… It’s October!

Changing Leaves & Pumpkins… It’s October!

October 13, 2022

October glows on every cheek,
October shines in every eye,
While up the hill and down the dale
Her crimson banners fly.
– Elaine Goodale Eastman (1863–1953)

October is here, and that means the fall season is officially underway! Along with cooler temperatures and the promise of a sugar buzz at the end of the month, October also ushers in Cyber Security Awareness Month, Financial Planning Month, and Breast Cancer Awareness Month. All of these are worthy of your attention, but the one we’re (obviously) most qualified to assist with is Financial Planning Month! If something has changed in your life and you need to make some updates to your plan, or if you’d just like to get together to review your current allocations, we’d love to hear from you. Just give us a call to set up an appointment.

Many of us will start to see the leaves changing color this month. Do you know why leaves change colors? Surprisingly, fall’s vivid colors are actually hidden underneath summer’s green! The main reason for the color change is not autumn’s chilly weather but light — or rather, the lack of it. The green color of leaves disappears when photosynthesis (from sunlight) slows, and chlorophyll breaks down. Trees with a lot of direct sunlight will produce red leaves, while other trees may turn yellow, orange, or brown.

October is also a great time for stargazing. So put on your coziest sweatshirt, grab your binoculars and a cup of cocoa, and head outside. Check out this Night Sky Map to discover which constellations you can spot this month.

As you look toward month’s end, you may be contemplating the joys of decorating your stoop with a classic Jack-O-Lantern. However, you may prefer pumpkin options that don’t include the use of sharp pointy things and possible blood loss (lol). If you happen to be accident-prone or need kid-friendly decorating options, check out these no-carve pumpkin decorating ideas!

Enjoy October! If you have any changes to your financial situation or any new goals you’d like to consider as we start to close out the year, let’s be sure to discuss. As always, if there’s anything we can help you with, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
